This is the shortest and final leg of the journey. The car and Tiny were inspected for contraband fruit at the check point in Renmark, negotiated without incident. We arrived home soon after lunch.
Tiny is a bit big to to fit on our place so Carol negotiated with our neighbour (yet to build) to accommodate him while we do a bit of set-up work. This proceeded over the next couple of weeks.
So, our early impressions following our first, albeit rushed journey............

West Wyalong to Mildura
Another early start, took on fuel and set off. We had set ourselves a goal of being home by Saturday.
This was aa uneventful day, we travelled 550 kms through Narrandera, across the barren Hay Plain to Balranald and on to Robinvale and finally to Mildura. We are now some 300 Kms from home.
In Mildura we bought a Weber Baby Q (Bar-b-que) which we anticipate will deliver up many excellent meals on our travels.
We stayed in an excellent caravan park on the banks of the Murray River. It was HOT but the air-conditioning saved the day (actually night).
We saw a couple of neat sites right on the river edge. If we ever return, these are the go. I think from memory they are 101 and 102.

Moree to West Wyalong
This was a 635 km day which certainly stretched the legs but was quite easily doable.
We stopped for such courtesy of Mr. McDonald in Dubbo and attempted a visit with Cathy (Carol's niece) and Steve (Lutheran Minister) to no avail, they were out at some function or other.
Pressing on we finally decided we had enough and pulled in at a caravan park in West Wyalong for the night. We enjoyed a couple of celebratory drinks, cooked a meal and turned in for an early night.
The bed is very comfortable as is the company!

On the Road
An early rise saw us keen to get on the road.
Gary was kind enough to drive us into Gatton to pick up a few essential supplies for the trip. After breakfast with them it was time for departure. We were very grateful for their hospitality and kindness, to say nothing of delivering up a most excellent rig.
By mid-morning we were on our way heading south. It was obvious moving off that there was something quite substantial behind, but the Ford rose to the challenge and we were delighted how well it managed the load. There was a good deal of traffic between Gatton and Toowoomba as well as an interesting steep climb out of the Lochyear Valley.
From Toowoomba we followed the Gore Highway south, joining to Newell Highway into New South Wales.
It was an uneventful trip on a hot day with lots of traffic and countless semi-trailers until we finally arrived at out overnight stop in a caravan park in at Moree.
Today we covered some 420 kms, a nice easy day's travel.

Taking Possession
An early start saw us on an early flight to Brisbane on a mission to take delivery of Tiny and relocate him to his new home in South Australia.
Gary and Joanne were kind enough to meet us at the airport and drove us to their lovely home in Gatton. We spent the rest of the day with them patiently taking us through all of the ins and outs of the rig and graciously answering numerous questions.
We joined them for a few glasses of wine and nibbles, followed by an early first night in Tiny. We were able to bring in our luggage a few starter essentials like bedding and eating implements etc.but we would certainly be travelling light!
